Toyota GR Supra ARD Prepreg Canards (ADRO Bumper) 2020+

This canard set is made to fit ADRO's widebody front bumper for the GR Supra, not the factory bumper. It pairs with the ARD race front lip for the ADRO bumper to complete the front aero. We confirm which bumper you have before we order.

What is ARD?

ARD is ADRO Racing Division, the company's motorsport engineering arm, aimed at cars that spend real time on track. Each ARD part is developed in CFD and tested on track before it goes on sale. ADRO's head of aerodynamics, Scott, comes from a Formula 1 development background and leads ARD's work. The GR Supra ARD Aero Package is one of the first complete systems from ARD.

The Quad Canards

Canards are one of the most recognisable parts of motorsport aero. They're also often used badly. On many aftermarket kits they're mostly for looks, adding little front downforce. ARD's quad canards have a specific job: managing the vortices from the front splitter and steering air around the front wheels.

How It Works

On a road car, the front wheels create a lot of the drag and turbulence. As they spin, they throw air up and out, disturbing the clean flow the splitter and undervanes rely on. The canards contain and redirect that disturbed air.

Each canard sheds a vortex from its outer edge. With four canards, those vortices stack up and strengthen as they move back, forming a curtain of controlled air between the splitter endplates and the wheel arches. That keeps turbulent, high-pressure air from the wheels out of the underbody, so the undervanes work more efficiently.

As part of the complete ARD Aero Package (in ADRO bumper configuration), the system generates 2148N (483 lbs) of downforce at 180 km/h, a 1618% increase over the GR Supra's stock 125N, with a gain of +2023N (455 lbs) and a 45/55 front-to-rear balance.

Material

All ARD parts are made in prepreg carbon fibre. Prepreg carbon comes with the resin already impregnated into the fibre in controlled conditions, so the resin is spread evenly through the whole part. That makes the part lighter and stiffer, without weak or resin-heavy patches that could delaminate under load.

For canards, stiffness matters most. If a canard flexes under load, its angle changes, which changes the vortex and undoes the airflow control it was designed for. Prepreg keeps its shape under load, so the canard works the same on lap 20 as on lap one.
