Mercedes-AMG C63 and C-Class W205 Parts Guide: Pre-Facelift vs Facelift

The W205-generation C-Class came in four body styles: W205 sedan, S205 wagon, C205 coupe and A205 cabriolet. The facelift, sold from the 2019 model year, changed the headlights, grilles and bumpers, so many parts come in two versions: pre-facelift (usually listed as 2014 or 2015 to 2018) and facelift (2019 on). There's also a second split that catches people out: parts for the C63 are often different from parts for AMG Line C-Class models.

This guide explains how to match parts to your car, with the lighting, exterior and performance parts we supply.

Step 1: Which car do you have?

You need three things to match a part:

1. Body style: sedan, wagon, coupe or cabriolet. Spoilers, diffusers and tail lights are body-specific.
2. Pre-facelift or facelift: your build date is on the compliance plate and in your service book. A car built around the changeover can be either, so we check the VIN.
3. C63 or AMG Line: the C63 has its own bumpers, so AMG Line grilles and diffusers won't fit it, and C63 grilles won't fit a standard C-Class.

Lighting: DRL modules and tail lights

iilumo's DRL modules replace the daytime running light modules inside the factory LED headlights. They're specific to the headlight version:

All of the DRL modules keep the factory white daytime lights and amber indicators, need no coding, and are fully reversible, according to iilumo. The coloured RGB modes are for off-road use only. On the road the lights must run in their legal white mode. For the facelift RGBW modules, the connector type (6-pin or 7-pin) depends on your headlights, and iilumo's fitment list focuses on the standard C-Class, so facelift C63 owners should check with us first. We confirm fitment with you before ordering.

Grilles, diffusers and spoilers

• Panamericana-style grilles: separate versions for AMG Line C-Class (2015 to 2018, and 2019 to 2022, in black or silver) and for the facelift C63 (2019 to 2022). The C63 grille fits all four body styles, with or without the Distronic sensor in the badge, and won't fit a standard C-Class.
• AMG-style rear diffusers with tips: made for C-Class sedans and wagons (pre-facelift and facelift) and for facelift coupes and cabriolets. These suit AMG Line and standard C-Class models, not the C63.
• Dry carbon spoilers: sedan styles for 2018 on (X-style and PSM-style), an OEM-style sedan spoiler for 2021 on, and an OEM-style spoiler for the C205 coupe.

Exterior parts should be test fitted before paint. Returns aren't accepted on parts that have been painted or altered, so we recommend professional fitting, which we can do at our workshop.

C63 performance: downpipes and tune

The W205 C63 uses the M177 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8. Project Gamma's 4-inch 304 stainless downpipes keep full diameter to the turbos, with CNC-machined v-band connections. Project Gamma quotes around 50 hp and 60 lb-ft from the downpipes once tuned.

The downpipes need a tune to avoid warning lights, so the package is the better buy for most owners. It pairs the downpipes with Project Gamma's custom tune on a flasher device. Project Gamma quotes up to 180 hp more from the tune with supporting modifications.

Common questions

My car is a 2018 build. Is it pre-facelift or facelift?

It could be either. The facelift arrived during 2018, so cars built that year vary. Send us the VIN and we'll confirm.

Will C63 parts fit my C43 or C300?

Not the grilles or bumper-mounted parts, because the C63 has its own front and rear bumpers. Lighting parts are matched to the headlight or tail light, not the engine, so many of them fit across the range.

How long do parts take?

Most parts are ordered in for you and usually dispatch within 1–2 weeks. Lighting is often quicker. We confirm timing along with fitment.

Can you fit them?

Yes. Supply only, or supply and fit at our Stepney workshop in Adelaide, with fitting quoted up front.
