The G87 M2 has more aftermarket aero than almost any current BMW. That's good news, but it also means it's easy to buy parts that don't work together. This guide explains what each piece does, which parts are designed to be run as a set, and what to check before ordering.
Start with how you use the car
Aero parts fall into two groups:
- Styling-led parts (carbon front lips, grilles, mirror caps, side skirt extensions) change the look and add a little front-end grip at speed. They suit street cars and are usually bolt-on or 3M-taped.
- Track-led parts (splitters, canards, undervanes, diffusers and wings) are designed to generate measurable downforce and are meant to be balanced front to rear. Adding a big rear wing without matching front aero can make the car push (understeer) at speed.
The ADRO ARD package
ADRO Racing Division (ARD) parts are developed as one system, CFD-simulated and track-tested together:
- Front splitter starts the aero system at the nose.
- Quad canards manage the vortices off the front corners.
- Undervanes work on the underside of the car, where much of the real downforce is made.
- Rear diffuser expands the underbody airflow to increase suction.
- AT-M3 motorsport wing adds adjustable rear downforce to balance the front.
If you're building towards the full package, the front splitter and diffuser are the usual starting point, with the wing added last so the balance can be set.
Alpha-N parts
Alpha-N (Germany) parts draw on BMW Motorsport GT4 components. The canard set, bumper trims and bonnet are designed around the factory G87 bumper, so check whether a part suits the OEM bumper or an aftermarket one before ordering.
Things to check before you order
- Bumper compatibility: some lips and canards only fit the ADRO front bumper, others only the factory bumper. The product page says which.
- Pre-LCI vs LCI: the G87 facelift changes some front-end parts.
- Finish: prepreg (dry) carbon is lighter and more consistent than wet carbon, and is usually the choice for track parts.
- Installation: most styling parts are DIY-friendly; splitters, undervanes and wings are best fitted professionally so mounting points and wing angle are right.
