The lower strakes stop air spilling off the sides of the splitter, so more of it does useful work. Prepreg carbon comes with the resin already impregnated into the fibre in controlled conditions, so the resin is spread evenly through the whole part. That makes the panel lighter and stiffer, without weak or resin-heavy patches that could delaminate under sustained load.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eOn track, that's about more than looks. A splitter that bends under load won't make the downforce it was designed for. Prepreg removes that problem.
